George grew up in Snow Hill, a small town in the eastern part of North Carolina. He graduated with his BA in 1987 from Wake Forest where he met his wife, Terri, who graduated from Duke Law School.

After graduating from Wake Forest, George started working for a company called Wallace Computer Services in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1991 he moved to Greensboro where he became a stockbroker with McDaniel Lewis and Co. After working for regional firms and large bank owned brokerage firms, George decided that GCG Wealth Management was the right mix of his own business, as well as having the backing of a large firm.

George is a proud father of two sons, Mitchell, and Spencer. Mitchell is currently in the Doctorate program in Chemistry at Wake Forest University and Spencer is majoring in Sports Management at NC State University.
