Mills joins GCG Wealth Management as a seasoned veteran of the financial services industry. He has 31 years’ experience in the financial markets, having started his career with Merrill Lynch in 1982. In 1985, he entered the private business world helping manage several family businesses. His heart remained with the financial markets and the calling was too strong. In 1992, he joined Scott & Stringfellow where he spent 29 years guiding and helping his clients achieve their financial goals through Bull and Bear markets. He was on the floor of the NYSE when the Dow hit 1000. It has now crossed 35000. What a journey! In September 2021, he joined GCG Wealth Management as a Senior Director, Investments.

Mills specializes in the areas of wealth accumulation, preservation, and distribution for his clients – individuals and corporations. He uses the equity and fixed-income markets and insurance as tools to accomplish these objectives.

He is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and holds the Series 6,7,9,10,63,65,66 and 31 licenses as well as a general life insurance license. Mills’ investment philosophy is to “take what the markets will give you and don’t be greedy as Mr. Market can humble you and bring you to your knees.“ Mills’ areas of expertise include Separate Managed Accounts, customized equity and fixed-income portfolios, IRA’S, SEP Plans, 401K and 403B Plans and annuities.

Mills is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and The Wake Forest Babcock Graduate School of Management. He also attended The Law School at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Roll Tide!!

He is married with three children and five grandchildren. “I feel Blessed.” His passions are hunting, salt-water fishing, and his grandchildren – not necessarily in that order. Mills is a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, The High Point Country Club and The Willow Creek Golf Club. He is a former Rotarian with 35 years of service.
