5/22/2008, Charlotte, NC- This morning, GCG Wealth Management advisor Stuart Stout, his wife Shelby, and daughter Holly, appeared on the CBS Early Show to talk about his brave and giving daughter, Hope.  At the age of 12, Hope Stout was diagnosed with a rare and serious bone cancer. When contacted by the Make A Wish Foundation, she wished for all the other kids to be granted their wishes.  A foundation was created in her honor and 12 days after she passed away, the $1,000,000 needed to grant the other kids wishes was raised.  Five years later, the foundation continues to raise money to help kids with serious illness and their families.  Stuart and Shelby also appeared last week on Fox and Friends.  For more information on Hope's story and her foundation, click here and here.

12/18/2007, Charlotte, NC- Greater than before: "Howe" about this new force in Charlotte?

For years, Dennis Howe and Jason Drake have talked informally about joining forces. Those discussions turned serious this fall, and the two Charlotte, North Carolina Managing Partners have combined their respective firms. Greater Carolina Group and Drake Financial have merged and as of January 1, 2008, is known as GCG Wealth Management.

"Dennis has done a good job of establishing the Greater Carolina Group brand in Charlotte," Jason said. "We wanted to retain the GCG aspect, yet create a new identity that reflects the strength of our new organization. Our vision is to become the premier financial planning Firm in the Southeast."

As of the end of November, Greater Carolina Group was the No. 17 largest Firm in the Securian Financial Network. Dennis and Jason quickly learned they could bring different strengths to a combined organization. The pair produced a five-year growth plan that sets the bar high in numerous areas: Advisor count, insurance premium collected, Annuity sales, Long Term Care/DI, Assets Under Management, etc
