Those discussions turned serious this fall, and the two Charlotte, North Carolina Managing Partners have combined their respective firms. Greater Carolina Group and Drake Financial have merged and as of January 1, 2008, is known as GCG Wealth Management.

"Dennis has done a good job of establishing the Greater Carolina Group brand in Charlotte," Jason said. "We wanted to retain the GCG aspect, yet create a new identity that reflects the strength of our new organization. Our vision is to become the premier financial planning Firm in the Southeast."

As of the end of November, Greater Carolina Group was the No. 17 largest Firm in the Securian Financial Network. Dennis and Jason quickly learned they could bring different strengths to a combined organization. The pair produced a five-year growth plan that sets the bar high in numerous areas: Advisor count, insurance premium collected, Annuity sales, Long Term Care/DI, Assets Under Management, etc
